It is well known that #MacOSX is based on #BSD under the hood.
But I was completely unaware that #Apple in 1988 already had a Unix OS named "A/UX" for their M68k platform. It was installable from and was integrated w/ MacOS 7.
A/UX was not only able to run the #XWindowSystem, but also the classic Apple finder GUI and MacOS applications.
